Q&A: F.Miller

F.Miller is a collection of botanical-based and nutrient-rich skincare essentials all made in Toronto from the highest quality organic ingredients. Fran tells us how joy arrives for her.

How do you cultivate joy?
Joy for me comes from slowness, space, being in nature, and definitely making - whether it's blending ingredients, cooking, painting, gardening. It's my own form of meditation. I surround myself with other people who hold joy and similar values as a priority.

If joy makes us invest more deeply in people around us and in our communities, how does your work allow you to get more connected to your community?
What we do is so personal. We're fortunate to be part of a community that trusts and champions our products. They look to us to set certain standards. Having this type of business affords a deeper connection with a large community - it's one of my favourite parts of the whole thing. The best part of it all is sharing what we do with people across the world and receiving their support in return.

Do you think there is a connection between joy and success? Did you choose to follow your passion and joy and find success or fulfillment?
I don't know that you can truly be successful without joy. I measure success with balance, happiness and contribution to a greater whole. Personally, my passions have always been my north star and I never felt I had any other option but to follow them. I just believe that by doing what I love and excelling at it will, regardless of challenges, lead to success and fulfillment.
